Today’s Los Angeles Times has a nice opinion piece from Joel Reynolds and Bobby Shriver about the future of Southern California transportation now that the proposed extension to the Orange County Foothill South freeway has been thoroughly rejected.

OC Register: Toll road decision could come any day

Now the Orange County Register jumps in with the prediction that the Department of Commerce’s decision on the Orange County toll road could come as early as next week. Again, Audubon California opposes the toll road extension.

We’ve been hearing chatter that a decision from the Department of Commerce on the Orange County Toll Road extension is imminent, and now there’s this in the L.A. Times. As you know, Audubon California strongly opposes this extension through important habitat.

Toll road public hearing update

According to the L.A. Times, today’s public hearing before a Department of Commerce panel was something of a mess. Of course, if you read the flackage from the TCA PR firms, it was a tremendous victory for toll road supporters. Thankfully, just because your PR firm says it, doesn’t mean it’s true.
