Osprey return to Southern California

September 13th, 2010 · by Garrison Frost

If our Facebook Page is any indication, Osprey remains one of the most popular birds in California. So it’s been a shame that our friends in Southern California haven’t see one in so long. But that’s changing with word that nests have popped up in Orange County. (file photo by USFWS)

There has been an osprey nest that has been occupied by a pair for at least a few years (to my knowledge) in San Diego. It’s near a city reservoir (Lake Murray). I didn’t realize there weren’t many around So. Ca. Good to hear they’re making a come back!
