Lots of Lewis’s Woodpeckers at the Audubon Bobcat Ranch

December 2nd, 2010 · by Garrison Frost

The folks at our Audubon Bobcat Ranch put together a survey of Lewis’s Woodpeckers on the 6,800-acre property. Nine surveyors in late November counted 402 woodpeckers — that’s right, 402. The green and pink Lewis’s were everywhere — catching flies, caching acorns, chasing Acorn Woodpeckers. It was a sight to behold. We want to thank everyone that helped out.
