Tell us about your first bird of the day

February 25th, 2011 · by Garrison Frost

We do it every Friday, first thing. As you poke your nose out the window, or leave for work, take a moment to appreciate the first bird you see. Then, when you’re at your computer, let us know what it was. It’s easier for us if you use this link, but you can also leave a comment below. It’s a great way to connect with nature, and connect with hundreds of people around the state (and beyond) doing the same thing. We’ll keep collecting your responses until around noon, when we’ll close the poll and start adding up the results. Then we’ll report back in the afternoon. It’s always very interesting. I always have problems finding the First Bird results on or after Friday afternoons. Help?

I would encourage responders to give their actual location (town, whatever) – it would give more information than “my backyard” does.

I live in South Lake Tahoe and I haven’t laid eyes on a bird for a few days. Six feet of snow in my yard provides slim pickings!
